The Mushroom
UGLY BEAUTY
The mushroom symbolizes a great network. Fungi are made up of tiny threads called mycelium. These travel underground connecting the roots of different plants in the area, even different species together allowing them to communicate and so much more. They are also natures great recyclers, turning dead plants and animals back into useable nutrients for new plants and animals.

Network for Artists
Mall of the arts will act as a great network for artists of different forms and genres. It will connect people of different races and cultures. It will nurture the community through food and art. And, it will be one of the great recyclers of the community promising to always focus on using discarded materials throughout the community to make in to art and functional pieces.
The Mushroom We Chose...
The Indigo Milk Cap Mushroom
A Vibrant Blue Stream of Milk
This mushroom is kind of plain on the outside and almost looks like a dangerous mushroom with its blue color. It’s color if you don’t know what this mushroom is, might lead you to believe it is bad and poisonous. But what you will discover, is that this mushroom is an edible, and highly delicious in ranking with the Portobello mushroom. When you cut its root open, a vibrant blue stream of milk comes flowing out of it, some have even wondered how to make its color into a paint or a dye.
When You Get To The Roots...
When you think of Thompson, many people on the outside think we are boring with little to offer. Even dangerous with our high crime rates, alcoholism, homelessness and racism. But when you get to the roots, you see there is so much beauty, so many resources for its people, and their stories. So much to offer. We want to bring this network, this beauty, these nutrients, to the rest of the world.
